Sultan is a story of Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan) - a local wrestling winner with the world at his feet as he dreams of serving India at the Championship.  It’s a story of Aarfa (Anushka Sharma) - a feisty young girl from the same base town as Sultan, with her personal set of dreams. 

 When the 2 local fight legends lock horns, love blossoms and their goals and goals shift intertwined and aligned.  However, the path to glory is a hard one and one must fall several times before one stands victorious. More often than not, this journey can take a lifetime. Sultan is a classic failure tale about a wrestler's journey, watching for a comeback by defeating all odds staked up against him. But when he has zero to lose and everything to gain in this fight for his life match... Sultan must literally fight for his life.

Story:

Sultan Ali Khan (Salman Khan) is a basic-aged Jat pehlwani wrestler and ex-wrestling hero, which is living a lonely life in a small town in Haryana. Aakash Oberoi (Amit Sadh), the author of a private mixed military arts collection backed through Mr. Patel (Ivan Sylvester Rodrigues), is boosted through his father to supply Sultan to salvage the league's popularity. After traveling to Haryana he makes an offer to Sultan, who bluntly protests and says that he has finally banned from wrestling. In search of the reason behind his resignation, Aakash braves Sultan's close friend Govind, who tells how Sultan's career began.

During 2008, Sultan falls in love at the show of Aarfa Hussain (Anushka Sharma), a state-level wrestler and the daughter of a political wrestling coach. Although she is originally cold towards him, she accepts Sultan as a friend. When he begins to claim that they are committed, she insults him saying she would only marry a well-trained wrestler. Delimited to win her respect, Sultan dedicates himself to great training and ultimately wins a state-level wrestling competition, as well as Aarfa. The two get coupled and become acknowledged wrestlers, showing India in several international tournaments. When the two are chosen for the Olympic contingent, Aarfa discovers that she's pregnant. She gives up her childhood dream of winning an Olympic gold medal for India, which is then fulfilled through Sultan.

To her surprise, Sultan's success makes him arrogant, and he slaps a writer at an event. He also gives Aarfa nearing her due date to win gold in Turkey. Upon retiring, he finds that his newborn son had died due to severe anemia. The baby had a rare O- blood type, equal to Sultan's, whose absence denied the child of a donor. Exasperated, Aarfa decides to retire Sultan and reside with her father. Chilled from losing his wife and child, Sultan drives raising funds to open a blood bank of his son's name.

In the present day, Aakash agrees Sultan that the tournament's prize money will fulfill his goal of opening a blood bank. Sultan allows to join and travels to train in Delhi, where Aakash introduces him to MMA coach Fateh Singh who initially refuses him, but accepts after seeing his heart. After two months of preparation, Sultan recovers his physique and learns how to wrestle freestyle. In his first fight, Sultan defeats the emulator using his own iconic wrestling style. He soon becomes a nationwide sensation once again through winning a series of marriages and gains Aarfa's post in the process.

During the semi-final large, Sultan wins the fight but is severely damaged and has to be hospitalized. The doctor informs Aakash that Sultan should not fight again lest his injuries match fatal. Aarfa arrives at the ward and drives him to continue competing. When the final match, Sultan defeats his endeavor to destroy his enemy and ultimately wins the tournament. Reunited with his wife, Sultan opens a blood bank using the prize money and Aarfa reassumes contention. A few years later, she produces background to a baby girl, whom Sultan works to train as a grappler.
